Iceland

A five-day journey through Iceland’s otherworldly landscapes: from the white nights of Reykjavík and the Golden Circle to majestic glaciers, black sand beaches and hot springs.

Our trip to Iceland began with a flight to Reykjavík, with a convenient stopover in Gdańsk, where we had time to stroll through the cosy streets and relax by the sea. Upon arriving on the island, we immediately hired cars so we could set off towards the white nights and our first authentic little hotel by a picturesque lake.

The following days turned into a real adventure. We explored the legendary Golden Circle – we saw Thingvellir National Park, the erupting Geysir, the mighty Gullfoss waterfall and the picturesque Kerid crater. There was no shortage of activities either: we enjoyed an invigorating hike to the Reykjadalur thermal river, evenings spent cooking together, heartfelt conversations and watching films.

We drove along the entire south coast, marvelling at the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, the majestic panoramic views from Cape Dyrhólaey and the mystical black sand beach of Reynisfjara. The mesmerising Fjadrarglúfur Canyon, a hike to Svartifoss waterfall, the Skaftafell glaciers, the sparkling Diamond Beach and the majestic Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon with its floating icebergs left us with incredible memories. And after a busy day, we were always treated to relaxing thermal hot tubs, delicious dinners and board games.

We rounded off our trip with an exploration of the Raufarholshöllir lava tunnel and a stroll through the centre of Reykjavík before flying home. For dessert, the more adventurous among us even tried some local delicacies: fermented shark, puffin meat and smoked whale meat.

It was a truly spectacular trip. It was as if we’d been to another planet — and that’s just a small part of what we managed to achieve!
